Here is another one of my reapings…. For years I was angry at people because they would hit a dog or cat in the road with their car and just leave it to die .I saw that as cruel and uncaring and I often cried for those animals that were left to die alone.
Then about a year ago I was driving in the middle of the night and something that looked like a big raccoon ran out in front of me and I hit it, the same night I hit a turtle and I couldn’t avoid either one them .
It was late at night and I had a low wind guard on the front of my car. I just kept driving in sadness because it was late at night and I couldn’t see where the raccoon even went, it was no longer in the road and the turtle…I was terrified to turn around because I couldn’t bare to see what damage I had done to him.
I was overwhelmed with guilt and shame and felt like that cruel and uncaring person that hit an animal and just drove off. My point is this….My judgement against others came back to me . I killed an animal and just left it to die just like others had done who I had judged.
It wasn’t a dog that I killed, but it was an animal. The only way that I got rid of those feelings was to repent to God for my judgement against others. He did remove my guilt but it was after I learned my lesson that those people who hit a dog or cat… maybe they couldn’t face the trauma they had done to that animal as well. It just goes to show that no one can judge someones heart but God alone. The way we judge and the way God judges is so different.
